  18. REQUIREMENTS
  19.     Any Amiga® (compatible) computer with at least OS3.
  20.

  22. DESCRIPTION
  23.     RndWbPix is a small program that provides random backdrop 
  24.     pictures for your wbscreen, wbwindow and drawer windows.
  25.     It runs from the startup-sequence each reboot and picks (a)
  26.     random picture(s) from the specified directory/ies.

  29. INSTALLATION
  30.     1.     Copy RndWbPix to your C: directory.
  31.         
  32.     2.    Next edit the file s:startup-sequence and add the follow-
  33.         ing line somewhere BEFORE C:IPrefs
  34.         
  35.         C:RndWbPix <ROOTPATH> <DRAWERPATH> <SCREENPATH> <IO=INORDER>
  36.         
  37.         where ROOTPATH is the directory that you have your back-
  38.         drop pictures for your wbwindow in eg. SYS:Prefs/Backdrops
  39.         
  40.         DRAWERPATH is the same as ROOTPATH, except that this option
  41.         specifies the directory where you have stored the pictures 
  42.         for the drawer windows.
  43.         
  44.         SCREENPATH is the directory where you have stored your back-
  45.         drops for the wbscreen.
  46.         
  47.         Examples:
  48.         C:RndWbPix SYS:Prefs/Backdrops
  49.             RndWbPix changes each boot up the picture for your wbwin.
  50.         C:RndWbPix SYS:Prefs/Backdrops SCREENPATH SYS:Prefs/Scrbdrops
  51.             Same as above but the wbscreen backdrop is also changed.
  52.         C:RndWbPix DRAWERPATH SYS:Prefs/Backdrops
  53.             RndWbPix changes only the backdrops of the drawer windows 
  54.             each reboot.

  56.         The '|' sign can be used to specify more than one path for each
  57.         PATH option. For example: 
  58.         
  59.         ROOTPATH=Art:images/woods|Art:images/houses
  60.         
  61.         Setting the INORDER (abrev. IO) option tells RndWBPix to select
  62.         the pictures in order of their appearance in the drawer instead
  63.         of random order.

  67.     TIPS
  68.     
  69.     - When FastIPrefs by H.W. Schober is installed, the picture display
  70.       doesn't need to start at the upper left corner. It may be centered
  71.       or split up centered. Starting 39.2 of RndWBPix each picture can
  72.       have its own placement setting (keywords: TILE,LEFT,CENTER,FILL.
  73.       Use spaces to combine them!). RndWBPix reads this setting from
  74.       the filecomment. For example, if you want to have a picture 
  75.       centered on the display, simply use the following command line:
  76.       
  77.       C:FileNote APicture CENTER
  78.       
  79.       This will set the comment of "APicture" to "CENTER".
  80.       
  81.       NOTE TO OS3.5 USERS: IPrefs v44 supports the CENTER option.
  82.       
  83.       The default placement can be specified via the RA=ROOTALIGNMENT/K,
  84.       DA=DRAWERALIGNMENT/K,SA=SCREENALIGNMENT/K commandline options.

  86.     - When you change the contents of your picture drawers, you need to
  87.       rebuild the index. This can be done by deleting the RndWBPix.index
  88.       file found in the picture drawer(s) or by invoking RndWBPix with
  89.       the BUILDINDEX (abrev. BI) option set. If you have an Amiga with
  90.       a battery backed-up clock, simply add AUTOBUILDINDEX or ABI to your
  91.       c:RndWbPix line. This tells RndWbPix to recreate the index file
  92.       when the drawer contents has changed. NOTE: By default, subdrawers
  93.       are ignored. The ALL option can be used to change this.

  96. TECHNICAL
  97.     Each time you start RndWbPix it modifies the file 
  98.     ENV:sys/wbpattern.prefs. The ENVARC: file stays untouched.

  101. HISTORY
  102.     37.0 first public release
  103.     37.1 small rework, added os3 version (= 39.1)
  104.     39.2 rewrote most parts. implemented index function for fast directory
  105.          scanning. added support for some FastIPrefs specific features
  106.          (placement of pictures).
  107.     39.3 implemented INORDER option <Stéphane PAYET>. Fixed a very old 
  108.          bug if one of the picture drawers had subdrawers, there was a 
  109.          chance that RndWBPix told IPrefs to use the drawer as backdrop
  110.          (which doesn't work;). When at least two of the three PATH 
  111.          options were set to the same drawer, the program didn't really
  112.          calculate a random number.
  113.     39.4 each PATH option can accept more than one path, now. scans sub-
  114.          drawers when ALL option is used in conjunction with BUILDINDEX 
  115.          <Georges Heinesch>.
  116.     39.5 added ABI=AUTOBUILDINDEX/S,RA=ROOTALIGNMENT/K,DA=DRAWERALIGNMENT
  117.          /K and SA=SCREENALIGNMENT/K options. reads the ENV: file instead
  118.          of the ENVARC: one, again.
